Buxton Talking Newspaper
How We Work
Our weekly routine starts by editing
Once the Buxton Advertiser is available on a Thursday, one of our volunteers begins the task of cutting and sorting the relevant articles for the reading teams.
Editing takes about 1.5 hours from 9 - 10.30 am
Reading begins
Two teams of two readers work their way through the edited articles. The first team begins at 11am until 12.15pm. The second team takes over at 12.30 until about 1.45pm.
Technical
The technician is needed from 10.30 to completion of the recording (around 3pm). Once reading is complete, they then begin the job of compiling a digital file ready to copy to the memory sticks.
Ready for distribution
Our admin team work in pairs from 3 - 4pm to get the pouches ready.
Each of our readers are sent a yellow pouch containing the digital Buxton Advertiser. The memory stick is returned in the pouch once the user has listened to it.
